Creating or Sharing your Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendars

Go to https://calendar.google.com/ on a desktop device.  (Google's mobile calendar application is not conducive to this procedure, so don't do this on your phone.)

If you do not already have an account sign up, else log in.

2. Create a Google Calendar

If you already have a Google Calendar for your group, skip to step 4.

Click on the + next to the Other Calendars section, and then choose “Create new calendar”.

3. Create your calendar

A) Fill in the Calendar's Name.  This should be your organization's name like “Ashburn DeMolay” to help people understand what the calendar is for.

B) You can optionally fill in a description of the calendar in this field.

C) Choose your time zone.

D) Click on the “Create calendar” button.

4. Go to Settings and Sharing

If you just created your calendar, you can probably skip this step and go to step 5.

Click on the 3 dots next to your calendars name, then choose “Settings and sharing”,

5. Shared with and Access permissions

A) Click on Shared with

B) You can optionally share your calendar with other advisors.  This would allow other advisors to also be able to post events.

C) Click on the checkbox for “Make available to public”.  When you click on this checkbox you will get a warning pop up letting you know that all events will be visible publicly.  Click on “OK”

D) Choose “See all event details”

6. Sharing the Calendar ID

A) Click on "Integrate calendar" on the left hand menu.

B) Copy the entire Calendar ID value.

C) Go to https://www.masonicyouthgroups.org/submit-calendar/ and paste the Calendar ID into the Calendar ID field.  Fill in the rest of the values and submit your calendar to be added to the MYG app.

 

6. Sharing the Calendar ID
